A Manchester Township woman was charged with Driving While Intoxicated among other serious charges after driving into a parked vehicle in her Pine Acres Manor Mobile Home Park earlier this month. According to app.com, the mother of two was subsequently charged with DWI, reckless endangerment, driving under the influence of a narcotic, possession of paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence.
After striking the parked vehicle, the mother fled with her children and entered her nearby home. When officers arrived on the scene they found several bags of heroin outside of the car and upon further investigation found more evidence of heroin and paraphernalia upon conducting a search incident to her arrest.
She is in jail on $75,000 bail and the children have been treated as a precaution following the impact from the accident. Additionally, the mother was ticketed for improper restraints for the children.
In New Jersey, DWI and Drug DUI (Driving Under the Influence) are serious charges with significant consequences. A first offense can be accompanied by a 7-12 month loss of license, mandatory counseling, community service, the installation of an ignition interlock device, and even jail time.
